Lieb Family Cellars
Lieb Family Cellars was founded by Mark and Cathy Lieb. Even though they were both trained in finance, they always dreamed of owning a winery and purchased their first vineyard (20 acres) in Cutchogue in 1992, growing grapes for other producers. Starting in 2000 they begin producing wine under their own label. Gary Madden, GM, (a Chicago boy!) joined in 2002.

An eco-friendly vineyard, Lieb has received a USDA grant for sustainable farming practices including avoidance of herbicides, use of organic fertilizers, topsoil preservation, disciplined schedule of nutrient replenishments, wildlife habitat conservation, hand-tending/harvesting of vines and intentionally low fruit yields.

Lieb Resrve wines demonstrate Old World elegance and complexity with pure expression of the grape varietals and terroir. The newest line is under the Bridge Lane label, named after the road on the eastern border of the vineyards. They offer New World style with bright, fresh fruit and approachable flavors.

Richard Grant Peterson, one of the pioneers in California wine making/growing, is a close friend of Gary Madden and through Gary we are able to offer a few cases of the spectacular Wrothem Pinot.  This is a “Champagne Method” Blanc de Noir made from cuttings that Richard took from a 200 year old vine found in Wrotham, England. The vine may be a descendent of vines brought to England by the Romans.  It is naturally resistant to all vine-plaguing diseases and as such has been grown in California totally organically.
